The Rise of Cocaine Addiction

When you consume cocaine consistently over a relatively short period of time, dopamine pathways will form in the brain. It’s these pathways that contribute to cocaine cravings and addiction.

In the UK, an estimated 117 tonnes of cocaine in 2021 according to the national crime agency. There are more people addicted to cocaine now than ever before, and the UK has just recorded the most deaths from cocaine poisoning on record.

Cocaine addicts feel these intense cravings and find it really difficult to go without cocaine in their system, no matter how short-lived the buzz they experience may be.

Everybody is different whether the addiction is through powder cocaine or crack cocaine, as experienced treatment providers for cocaine addicts, we will tailor your treatment to give you the best chance of making a full recovery.

What Happens in Cocaine Rehab?

When you begin your cocaine addiction treatment the 1st step is to flush the drug from your body in a step known as cocaine detoxification.

Any drug addiction treatment involves a detox period, and this is a crucial step in treating cocaine addiction.

You may experience cocaine withdrawal symptoms such as:

  • The Shakes
  • Nausea
  • Irritation
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Cocaine dependence is a serious addiction and when you begin treatment, you will be challenged both physically and mentally through this period.

This is why the detoxification period is best undertaken under the supervision of an addiction specialist.

Our team here at the Cassiobury court treatment facility include multi-skilled addiction counsellors, drug addiction nurses and General Practitioners who are at hand to apply any medication you need as you complete a medically supervised detox.

After Detox

When you seek help for cocaine addiction at our rehab, you will go through a tailored programme designed to eliminate cocaine dependency from both your physical and mental states. After detox, we will start to work through cocaine addiction therapy. In these workshops where you will learn about the neuroscience relating to cocaine addiction.

You will go through various private and group therapy sessions where you will learn about your addiction and coping strategies for the future. Years of drug use can have a massive effect on your mental state and can be the source of a variety of mental health issues.

Any form of cocaine addiction treatment programme will include cognitive behavioural therapy sessions as it is such a crucial step in the rehab process.

Inpatient Cocaine Rehab

Residential rehabilitation treatment takes place when you leave your home and admit yourself into a facility for the duration of your cocaine rehab programme.

You will be classed as an inpatient and stay at rehab until you have fully completed treatment.

This form of treatment is often more preferable to outpatient treatment rehab because you are completely removed from your cocaine addiction triggers and current environment.

Often people seek treatment for cocaine addiction through their local community and outpatient treatment. But the recovery process can be a lot more challenging in your home environment. In a dedicated treatment centre, you will be under the guidance of a full-time addiction specialist

Your access to cocaine will be totally cut off whilst you undergo your addiction treatment. Residential treatment is well suited to those of you who are acute cocaine addiction.

If you feel you may be on the verge of developing a cocaine addiction, outpatient therapy and treatment may help you out and help you to quit your cocaine use. But for heavy users of cocaine, you may need to undertake a dedicated cocaine addiction treatment programme.

If you have tried to stop using cocaine on multiple occasions but failed, then going to professional drug rehab can provide you with the kind of treatment plan that will lead to a successful recovery.

We can carry out a free confidential assessment over the telephone and also in person at our rehab centre and advise on the best-suited treatment options. As cocaine is highly addictive, a certified addiction specialist will have the experience to plan the best course of action.

Attending a private rehab for inpatient treatment is highly confidential. We do not require a GP referral meaning you may also conceal your cocaine addiction from your official medical records which could be assessed in future by your employer or your medical insurer. Your privacy is assured at our CQC registered addiction centre.

How Many Days or Weeks does Cocaine Rehab Require?

Attending a cocaine addiction rehab requires an investment of time on your behalf.

Here, you will live stay at rehab for around 7-28 days. Generally, the more time you invest in rehab, the better the results you should expect in terms of cementing your long term addiction recovery.

At Cassiobury Court, we find the optimal amount of time to spend in rehab is around 28 days. If your cocaine addiction is sufficiently acute, you may be advised to remain at the rehab centre for a longer period of time, although this is relatively rare.

A certified addiction professional may recommend this option if you are suffering from multiple addictions such as alcohol addiction or have a dual diagnosis to other drugs.

As we unravel your cocaine addiction we may discover further therapy is needed for issues that may not have been initially apparent.

Under the guidance of an addiction professional, you will learn in time to open up in our support groups and develop the self-confidence to communicate with other recovering addicts.

Treatments Available at a Cocaine Rehab Centre

Over the course of your cocaine rehab programme, you will benefit from many different services. When you enter the residential treatment centre, you will be assessed both physically and psychiatrically.

The psychiatrist will determine the history and severity of your addiction to cocaine. He or she will also determine any possible dual-diagnosed mental health problems you may be experiencing such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

We will also discover any further health complications that you may have and plan to treat these at our treatment facility in conjunction with your addiction.

We will plan what cocaine treatment programme will best serve you at this point and create a schedule for you to follow in our residential rehab.

Medications

Following the assessment, you will begin to detox. Cocaine abstinence will cause several psychological withdrawal symptoms, however, none of these withdrawal symptoms is physical in nature.

This means undergoing a cocaine detox is entirely safe from a medical standpoint. There is no risk of you suffering from a seizure. However, the psychological withdrawal symptoms are nevertheless testing, and powerful cravings will cause you to experience mood swings and sleeping problems.

We will treat you through this stage if you need prescription medication through you nausea and mental unrest in what is known as a medically assisted detox.

Cocaine Addiction Therapy

Whilst you detox, you will engage in daily therapy sessions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT. You will take part in workshops and also learn the science of cocaine addiction. You will also take part in group therapy, a popular way of coming to terms with combating any isolation you would typically feel. Here, you and your peers will discuss your experiences with addiction and work out ways of restructuring your life so your recovery is not hampered by relapse.

You will also benefit from traditional individual therapy sessions. Also known as ‘one-to-one’ therapy, this is where you discuss your more intimate feelings in confidence with a qualified therapist.

You will learn all about coping mechanisms and what treatment providers are accessible in the outside world. Recovering addicts utilise support groups such as narcotics anonymous to further aid their recovery in the outside world.
